NELSON-O’REILLY PRODUCTIONS

Producer EVE NELSON is hot as a pistol these days.  She produced and co-wrote various tracks on the forthcoming BILLY CRAWFORD CD (Ride, V2 Records), including the just-released single “When You’re In Love With Someone.”  The song, which NELSON co-wrote with Matt Goss, was reviewed in Billboard Magazine: “The glowing love song bubbles with melodious charm, without resorting to the usual tricks of the trade.  It’s a grand, mature outing that could easily charm the softer side of pop radio, and it’s a natural for AC stations.”

NELSON also co-wrote the track “I Know You By Heart” on the chartbusting Eva Cassidy CD, Songbird, currently riding high in the UK in its second week at #1.  She is presently producing three tracks on the new Laura Branigan CD, two of which she has co-written, produced a track on the forthcoming Heather Nova CD (V2), is working on producing and arranging a track for Buster Poindexter on the soundtrack for the just-completed independent film Crooked Lines in which David Johansen is featured, produced and co-wrote two tracks on the upcoming Emelia Andreen CD (Edel Records Sweden), two tracks on the upcoming Willa Ford debut album (Lava Records), and produced two tracks on the upcoming second Motorbaby CD.

With one fully equipped studio in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood and another in the East Hampton area of The Springs, NELSON is one of the industry’s busiest and most successful well-kept secrets.  It’s time to change all that

The NYC studio is housed in a lovely, homey brownstone duplex in one of the most historic areas of the city, known for its abundance of residents in the arts.  The location provides the benefit of a private backyard where the artists can take a break and catch their breath while still in the heart of the city.  The Long Island complex boasts a guesthouse with a built in pool and Jacuzzi.  Just half a block from the beach, it is rustic and rootsy, providing the artists with a low key, relaxing “retreat.”  The complex is situated in the area’s artist community nicknamed “Woodstock with the ocean,” where Ed Harris shot his Oscar winning film “Pollack.”  Both studios are available for the exclusive use of NELSON-O’REILLY PRODUCTIONS and the recording artists with whom they work.  A complete list of all the equipment at both studios is available upon request.

In the fall of 1994, NELSON formed NELSON-O’REILLY PRODUCTIONS with partner Bernadette O’Reilly when the two women discovered multi-talented Billy Crawford.  The self-contained production company focuses on the cultivation of artist development.  Their visions are kaleidoscopic in that they do not follow any formula –artists are nurtured on an individual basis according to their needs.

At the tender age of 20, Miami-native NELSON graduated from Berklee College of Music in two years, with a bachelor’s degree in film scoring and composition.  She was awarded the very first ASCAP scholarship given by Berklee, and immediately thereafter produced and composed themes for Boston sports teams the Bruins, Red Sox and Celtics, and composed the theme for the “Joan Rivers Show.”  NELSON moved to New York, where she truly flourished by writing and producing the Angela Bofill album I Wanna Love Somebody (Jive Records), 1995 Grammy nominated Tramaine Hawkins, Donna Summer, Expose, Sybil, The New York Voices, and charted a #1 UK hit with Donna Giles’ “And I Am Telling You.”

Her partner Bernadette O’Reilly began her entertainment industry career in the artist relations division at Spotlite Entertainment where she worked with such superstar comics as Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld and Paul Reiser.  Turning to the music industry, O’Reilly played a pivotal role in creating successful careers during her tenure at Peer Music, where she attained numerous hit songs for many front line artists including Tina Turner, James Ingram, Menudo and Stacey Lattisaw.  She also secured the first US label deal for UK producers 3 Man Island.  As an instructor at the Songwriters Hall of Fame, O’Reilly has been responsible for educating many aspiring songwriters.  Presently, she is acting as music supervisor for the upcoming independent film Crooked Lines, which NELSON is scoring.  O’Reilly has also teamed up with film and TV veteran Jonathan Pillot to form Walter Mitty, Inc., a multifaceted management and consulting company.

NELSON and O’Reilly co-wrote the debut self-titled album by Billy Crawford (V2 Records), which received such rave reviews as: “EVE NELSON’s solid, R&B-inflected production…(does) an excellent job pumping up the chorus to anthemic appeal, while never drawing the ear’s focus away from Crawford’s vocal.”  This talented team also served as music consultants for Sandra Bernhard’s Broadway debut, I’m Still Here Damn It, and produced the CD (TVT Records).  Furthermore, NELSON produced a track on the Stuart Little soundtrack, co-written with Carol Bayer Sager and Matt Goss, and owns Eve Songs Inc., an extremely successful television music company where she composes, produces, writes and arranges theme songs and music for TV programs and ads.

Together, NELSON and O’Reilly are currently recording new alt/pop artist Poem 27, whom they describe as “Bowie meets Elvis Costello circa 2001.”   And if their newest discovery follows suit, it won’t be long before he too becomes a chart success under their experienced and guiding hand.

Producer Eve Nelson Hot As A Pistol With New Billy Crawford And Willa Ford Cd Releases

Motorbaby Producer Eve Nelson is one busy lady, and there's no let-up insight.  She produced and co-wrote various tracks on the new Billy Crawford CD (Ride, V2 Records), including the first single "When You're In Love With Someone."  The song, which NELSON co-wrote with Matt Goss, was reviewed in Billboard Magazine: "The glowing love song bubbles with melodious charm, without resorting to the usual tricks of the trade.  It's a grand, mature outing that could easily charm the softer side of pop radio, and it's a natural for AC stations."

The subject of a feature in the June 9 "Pro Audio" column in Billboard Magazine, NELSON's trademark fine work is evident on the forthcoming Willa Ford debut CD (Lava Records), for which she co-wrote, produced and mixed the tracks "Ooh Ooh" and "Wish."  But she didn't stop there.

Currently, NELSON is riding the charts in England via the posthumous Eva Cassidy CD, Songbird, which includes the track "I Know You By Heart," a song she co-wrote with Diane Scanlon.  Upcoming are new releases by Heather Nova (V2) on which NELSON produced one song, the forthcoming Emelia Andreen CD (Edel Records Sweden) for which she produced and co-wrote two tracks, and the upcoming second Motorbaby CD for which she produced two tracks.  And just to make sure she keeps occupied, NELSON is presently producing three tracks on the new Laura Branigan CD, two of which she has co-written, and is scoring the soundtrack for the just-completed independent film Crooked Lines, featuring David Johansen, as well as producing and arranging a track on that ST for Buster Poindexter.
