Often exploring themes of addiction, sexual power games, and compulsive behavior, Barbet Schroeder's 1983 film Tricheurs is a powerfully impudent look into the world of some rather glamorous gambling addicts. In yet another fascinating role, Bulle Ogier (Discreet Charm of The Bourgeoisie, Maitresse) is cast among a stylish milieu of gamblers on the Portuguese island of Madera. There she becomes involved with a slick gamblers scheme to run the roulette wheel.
